Collaborative Piano
Music is at its most rewarding when it becomes a shared experience. As a collaborative pianist, I enjoy working with singers, instrumentalists, and ensembles to help bring musical ideas to life, whether preparing for an examination, audition, concert, or simply exploring repertoire together.
I believe that great collaboration begins with listening: listening to the music, to the performers, and to the unique qualities that each musician brings. Rather than simply providing accompaniment, I work alongside you as a musical partner, supporting your interpretation and helping you feel confident and expressive in performance.
My Musical Journey
I have developed my collaborative experience by working with singers, instrumentalists, and ensembles across a wide range of musical settings. My repertoire spans from classical chamber music and art song to musical theatre and pop music, enabling me to tailor my playing to the character and requirements of each project.
During my studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, I received several awards recognising my work as a collaborative pianist, including the Geoffrey Buckley Memorial Prize for Collaborative Piano, the Bryan Davies Memorial Prize for Accompanists, and the John Ireland Prize for Song, which I received alongside soprano Anna Grieve.
I have also performed as part of the Cassiopeia Piano Quintet, including a South West tour, and have accompanied students preparing for ABRSM grade examinations. My collaborative work also includes ensemble experience, including supporting rehearsals with the Llysfaen Singers.
These experiences have strengthened my ability to listen, respond, and support other musicians, whether refining details in rehearsal, preparing for an examination, or sharing the excitement of a performance.
